Gig Driver Mileage Deduction Calculator: 2026 IRS Tax Savings
Calculate your IRS standard mileage deduction and estimated tax savings as an Uber, DoorDash, or Instacart driver using the 2026 mileage rate.
How Gig Driver Mileage Deduction & Tax Savings Are Calculated
Weekly business miles are multiplied by the IRS standard mileage rate to find the deduction, then the deduction is applied against your combined marginal and self-employment tax rate to estimate real cash tax savings.
This calculator uses the 2026 IRS standard mileage rate of 72.5 cents per mile for business use, effective January 1, 2026 (IRS Notice, January 2026). The standard mileage rate already bundles gas, maintenance, insurance, and depreciation — you cannot also deduct actual vehicle expenses if you use this method for a given vehicle. Only miles driven while 'on the clock' for a gig platform (waiting for a ride/order, en route to pickup, and during the trip) typically qualify; commuting from home to your first pickup zone is generally not deductible. Always keep a contemporaneous mileage log.
