Ideal & Healthy Body Weight Range Calculator
Calculate your ideal body weight using the Devine, Hamwi, Robinson, and Miller formulas, plus your healthy BMI-based weight range (BMI 18.5-24.9) based on your height and sex.
Ideal Body Weight Formulas & Healthy BMI Range
This calculator combines two approaches to a healthy weight. The healthy weight range comes from the standard BMI range of 18.5-24.9 applied to your height. The ideal body weight estimates come from four formulas commonly used in clinical and fitness settings — Devine, Hamwi, Robinson, and Miller — each of which estimates a baseline weight for someone 5 feet tall and adds a per-inch increment for additional height.
These formulas were originally developed for clinical purposes such as drug dosing and nutrition counseling, not as strict weight-loss targets. They estimate weight from height alone and don't account for muscle mass, body composition, or frame size, so results can vary noticeably between formulas — especially for very tall or very short individuals. Use these figures as a general reference range alongside other health indicators, not as a single target number.
