Sleep Cycle & Wake-Up Time Calculator (90-Minute Cycles)
Calculate the best bedtime or wake-up time based on 90-minute sleep cycles. Enter a time and see wake-up or bedtime options for 3 to 6 full sleep cycles, plus total sleep hours.
90-Minute Sleep Cycle Method
Sleep progresses through repeating cycles of light sleep, deep sleep, and REM sleep that average about 90 minutes each, with most adults completing 4 to 6 cycles per night. Waking up at the end of a cycle, when sleep is lightest, tends to feel more refreshing than waking in the middle of a cycle. This calculator works backward or forward from a chosen time in 90-minute blocks and adds a buffer for the time it typically takes to fall asleep.
The 90-minute figure is an average — individual sleep cycles can range from about 70 to 120 minutes and vary night to night. This calculator provides a helpful estimate for planning your schedule, not a guarantee of how you'll feel. The average time to fall asleep is about 10-15 minutes, but you can adjust this to match your own experience.
