Mathematical Audit

TaskRabbit & Handyman Take-Home Pay Formula

Unlike many gig platforms, TaskRabbit Taskers keep 100% of the hourly rate they set, plus 100% of tips and reimbursed expenses. Instead, TaskRabbit charges the client a Service Fee (15% of the task price) and a Trust & Support Fee (typically 5-15%) on top of the Tasker's rate. This means your take-home pay is simply your rate times your billable hours — but the platform fees affect the total price your client sees, which can influence how competitive your rate feels.

Weekly Take-Home Pay = Hourly Rate × Billable Hours per Week
Client Hourly Price (TaskRabbit) = Hourly Rate × (1 + Service Fee % + Trust & Support Fee %)
Monthly Take-Home Pay = Weekly Take-Home Pay × 4.33
Annual Take-Home Pay = Weekly Take-Home Pay × 52
First-Year Net = Annual Take-Home Pay − One-Time Registration Fee (TaskRabbit ≈ $25)

TaskRabbit's Service Fee is a flat 15% of the task price (excluding reimbursements), and the Trust & Support Fee typically ranges 5-15% (this calculator uses a 10% midpoint). Both fees are paid by the client and do not reduce the Tasker's earnings. Independent handymen (direct clients) have no added platform fee, but also don't benefit from TaskRabbit's built-in client demand. Suggested rate ranges by experience: Entry-level $40-$60/hr, Professional $65-$85/hr, Specialist (electrical, plumbing, etc.) $100-$150/hr.
