Medium Partner Program Earnings Formula
Medium Partner Program earnings are driven primarily by member reading and listening time on your paywalled stories, where a 'member read' is counted once a paying member spends at least 30 seconds reading or listening. Reads originating from outside Medium (social shares, search, email, direct links) receive an additional 5% bonus. Boosted stories earn engagement points at a higher multiplier than non-Boosted stories.
Earnings per member read are not published by Medium and vary widely by niche, audience, and month — real-world reports range from roughly $0.005 to $0.05 per member read. Boost multiplier is illustrative (1.0x for non-Boosted, 1.3x for Boosted) since Medium does not publish an exact figure. A $10 minimum balance is required before Medium issues a payout; unpaid balances roll over to the next month.
