Mathematical Audit

Whatnot Payout Formula

Whatnot charges sellers a commission percentage on the total order amount (item price plus shipping charged to the buyer), which varies by category — standard categories are 8%, Electronics is 5%, and Collectibles & Coins is 4%, with some high-value collectibles items over $1,500 charged 0% commission. On top of the commission, Whatnot deducts a standard payment processing fee of about 2.9% + $0.30 per order.

Order Total = Sale Price + Shipping Charged to Buyer
Commission Fee = Order Total × Commission Rate %
Payment Processing Fee = Order Total × 2.9% + $0.30
Total Fees = Commission Fee + Payment Processing Fee
Net Payout = Order Total − Total Fees
Profit per Item = Net Payout − Item Cost − Shipping Cost
Show Total Profit = Profit per Item × Items Sold per Show

Commission rates vary by category and Whatnot updates its fee schedule periodically. This calculator uses representative 2026 rates: 8% for standard categories, 5% for Electronics, 4% for Collectibles & Coins, and 0% for Collectibles & Coins items selling above $1,500.
